A teenager’s been arrested and seven suspected stolen bikes recovered in Chelmsford.
Officers from the Chelmsford Community Policing Team were making proactive enquiries around bike thefts today (Monday 23 October).
They attended an address in the Kings Road area of the city and arrested a 16 year-old boy on suspicion of theft and burglary.
In the process they also recovered five suspected stolen bikes, while a further two suspected stolen bikes were seized at another address.
The boy is currently in custody.
Sergeant Garry Neal, from the Chelmsford Community Policing Team, said:
“Bike thefts are down across the Chelmsford district in the last year but we’re not complacent about the issue because we know the impact it can have.
“Many people rely on their bikes to get to work and get around.
“We’re working hard tackle the issue, recover stolen bikes and return them to their owners.”
