A man has been charged with ten offences as part of an ongoing investigation into shoplifting reports in Colchester.
The offences were reported to Essex Police between September and October, which all took place at the Co-op on Chapel Road in West Bergholt.
Jay Rank, 40 of Mumford Road, West Bergholt has been charged with nine counts of theft from a shop and one count of using threatening behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
He will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 10 October.
Chief Inspector Colin Cox: “This investigation has been a joint piece of work by Colchester Local Policing Team and our Business Crime Team, who focus on preventing and investigating crime against businesses in Essex.
“Shoplifting remains a priority and as a force, we are very conscious about the effects these crimes have on local businesses.”
