Two people have been arrested and a moped, stolen yesterday in Colchester, returned to its owner.
We received reports of a moped being ridden anti-socially in Dragoon Road at around 2pm today (Tuesday 10 October) and quickly established it had been stolen from another address in the city yesterday.
Officers were at the scene a short time later and arrested two people on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
They are both in custody.
Chief Inspector Colin Cox, District Commander for Colchester, said:
“Officers have responded quickly to this report and were able to establish the moped had been stolen.
“They acted swiftly to attend the scene and make arrests.
“The vehicle has already been returned to its owner.
“CID are now carrying out the investigation.
“Tackling vehicle crime is a priority for us and we know the impact it can have.
“It matters to you, so it matters to us.”
