A man has been charged and remanded into custody as part of an ongoing burglary investigation in Southend.
Officers were called to an address on Charlotte Mews in Southend on Monday, 16 October following reports of a burglary which is believed to have occurred last week.
Albert Newton, 52 of York Road, Southend has since been charged with burglary dwelling as part of this investigation. He has been remanded into custody and will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 18 October.
Detective Sergeant Stacy King from Southend CID said “This charge follows a fast investigation by Southend Criminal Investigation Department.
“We appreciate the impact that burglary has on victims and take all reports of burglary seriously. We continue to encourage the public to keep doors and windows locked and consider additional security measures such as video door bells or CCTV.
“We also encourage the public to look out for their neighbours, particularly elderly neighbours to make sure homes in your area are as secure as possible.”
