Specialist officers investigating an allegation of attempted rape in Southend have secured a charge against a man.
A woman in her 30s reported being attacked in the Warrior Square, near to the skate park, at around 4.20am on Saturday 30 April.
She has been supported by specialist officers from our Adult Sexual Abuse Investigation Team (ASAIT) who have been investigating.
As a result of that work, officers arrested a man on Thursday 12 October.
Subsequently, Syrjan Rexhaj, 25, of no fixed address, has been charged with attempted rape.
He appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 14 October, and was remanded in custody until a hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday 13 November.
