A man has been charged following an incident which led to the A12 to be closed at Stanway.
We were called to reports of concerns for a man on a bridge over the road near to Junction 26 shortly after 11.15am on Tuesday 10 October.
Officers attended and worked to resolve the situation as quickly and as safely as possible.
This meant the road had to be closed for the safety of all those involved, including road users.
The man was brought to safety at around 4.50pm and the road was re-opened.
A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of intentionally and recklessly causing a public nuisance and is in custody.
Simon Graham, 54, of Hunting Gate, Colchester, has since been charged with wilful obstruction of a highway and intentionally/recklessly causing a public nuisance.
