Officers were called to Warrior Square at around 6:15pm on Tuesday, 19 September following reports of a large disturbance involving around eight young men.
Officers arrived quickly and located a man with serious facial injuries. The victim was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-changing.
Within 30 minutes, officers arrested a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of Grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in custody.
An 18-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.
Enquiries are ongoing and a large cordon was put in place last night, which has since been removed.
Investigating officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this assault or have any CCTV or dashcam footage to contact us.
