Basildon: Man charged with sexual assault

A man has been charged as part of an investigation into a sexual assault in Basildon yesterday.

Officers were called to the Eastgate Centre in Basildon at around 11am on Thursday, 15 August following reports of a man touching a woman’s bottom.

Within 45 minutes, officers arrested a man in the area. 

Kevin Ashton, 68 of Great Oxcroft, Basildon has since been charged with two counts of sexual assault on a female.

He will next appear at Southend Magistrates Court on 13 September.
