Essex’s Roads Policing Unit officers routinely patrol our towns and cities alongside our more rural locations to make our roads safe for everyone, keep them moving and prevent crime and collisions.
They’re asking everyone to share the roads responsibly to help achieve that.
We’d urge motorcyclists to wear the protective gear they need to prevent serious injury and all drivers and riders to remain vigilant to hazards, watch out for vulnerable road users and keep to the speed limit.
Drivers are encouraged to use their mirrors and take a little extra time to make sure they’ve seen that motorbike and rider.
In our more rural areas, look for places to pass each other safely, allowing plenty of space between a vehicle and a motorbike, animals or pedestrians. The rule is pass wide and slow.
We've published more details here on how you can look out for motorcycle riders and further safety steps.
Help us reduce road collisions and casualties in Essex and make our roads even safer. Report instances of poor and dangerous driving through Safer Essex Roads Partnership's Extra Eyes initiative.
More than ever, irresponsible, dangerous and illegal road behaviour is being recorded by road users. Through Extra Eyes this footage can be sent to, and reviewed by, an investigator within Road Policing at Essex Police.
