Officers investigating an assault in Hockley are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
We were called to reports of an assault in Leamington Road shortly before 3.10pm on Friday 23 February.
Officers attended and found a man had been assaulted.
He was taken on to hospital, where he was treated for injuries which are thankfully not life-threatening or life-changing.
DI Steve Franklin, of Southend CID, said:
“We responded quickly to this incident and were with the victim within minutes.
“A scene was established as officers continued to conduct enquiries in relation to this incident, but this has now been stood down.
“As part of our ongoing investigation, I would ask anyone with information which could assist us to get in touch.
“We take reports of violence-related offences very seriously and in ensuring our response to such matters is prompt and effective.
“At this stage, we believe this was a targeted incident of violence with no wider ongoing threat to the public.”
