Detectives investigating an assault in Shoeburyness are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.
We were called to reports of a serious assault in the area of Elm Road, Shoeburyness, shortly before 6.45pm on Saturday 24 February.
Officers attended and found a man had suffered a significant wound to his hand.
He was taken on to hospital for further treatment.
An immediate area search was carried out and a scene remained in place through the evening as we continued our enquiries.
The scene was stood down by 11.30pm and our investigation into this incident is ongoing.
We are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with information or camera footage, to come forward to assist us.
DI Steve Franklin, of Southend CID, said:
“At this stage we believe this to be an isolated incident and I would like to reassure the community in the area that at this point we believe there is no wider threat to members of the public.
“Although such incidents remain rare, we take matters of violence extremely seriously and are working quickly to establish a picture of what took place.
“I would urge anyone with any concerns, or with information about this incident to contact us as soon as possible."
