Six more arrests have been made by specialist officers working to keep you safe in our communities across the county.
The Operational Support Group (OSG) are a specialist team who support other teams from across the force in carrying out activity which is vital to keep people safe and progress investigations.
This work can include conducting high visibility patrols, making arrest attempts, and carrying out search warrants, as well as proactive patrols on our roads.
Yesterday (Monday 12 February), the team arrested a man on suspicion of rape and attempted rape within 24 hours of the report coming in, therefore securing vital evidence.
A man wanted on a recall to prison was arrested by officers at an address in Witham. While in the south of the county in Rayleigh a man was arrested in connection with a burglary offence.
OSG officers supported colleagues from Grays CID to locate and arrest a man in connection with Actual Bodily Harm and common assault offences.
The team assisted our Uttlesford community policing team and arrested one man in connection with theft and handling stolen goods. Numerous items of interest were seized at two separate locations.
The officers executed a warrant in London in relation to an investigation into theft and handling stolen goods offences. One man was arrested.
They also supported the roads collision investigation team in Thurrock with scene management as they carried out vital investigations.
Superintendent Phil Stinger said: “This was a typical productive day of activity and highlights the range of work the team undertakes.
“Six arrests were made during the day and lots of vital intelligence gathered. Our work supports a range of teams from across Essex Police and helps to progress investigations.
“It’s really important work and helps in our mission to get justice for victims and keep you safe.”
