Officers arrested a man within 10 minutes of receiving a call concerning a burglary at a business premises in Braintree High Street.
At around 11.40pm on Tuesday 9 July, we were called to the scene after members of the public reported a man had used a brick to smash his way into the property.
Our officers, Constable Simon Ball and Temporary Sergeant Thomas Baskeyfield swiftly arrived on scene and detained a man after a short foot chase.
Vape products and mobile phones worth a four-figure sum were also seized.
Sgt Baskeyfield said:
“We understand the impact that business crime has on their owners, customers and the local communities they serve.
“My officers attended, made a significant arrest and recovered suspected stolen property soon after the initial call was placed.
“This should be a stark reminder to anyone thinking of committing offences in Braintree that we will swiftly and robustly deal with them.”
Ryan Knight, 32, of Malyon Close, Braintree, has since been charged with burglary and is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 6 August.
