A man has been charged as part of an investigation into a serious assault in Colchester earlier this week.
Officers were called to Hatcher Crescent in Colchester at around 6:15pm on Monday, 22 July following reports of a 17-year-old boy being seriously assaulted.
The victim was taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds, where he remains. His injuries are not deemed to be life-threatening.
A man has since been charged as part of this investigation.
Vincent Vata, 23 of Capon Road, Colchester has been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
His first court appearance date is yet to be set.
Detective Inspector Paul Olney said “This investigation has moved quickly and I’d like to thank the public for their support whilst we have carried out enquiries in the area.
“We believe this to be an isolated incident with no risk to the wider public.”
