A teenage boy has been charged following a serious assault in Harlow.
We were called to reports of an assault in the area of Gilden Way playing fields, shortly after 10pm on Saturday 6 July.
It was found a teenage boy had suffered a serious wound to his head which is not believed to be life-threatening.
He continues to receive hospital treatment.
Officers attended and, following enquiries at the scene and searches of the nearby area, detained a suspect by 10.15pm.
A 15-year-old boy, from Harlow, has been charged with wounding with intent, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, assault by beating and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour.
He is set to appear before Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 8 July).
Detectives investigating a serious assault in Harlow have made an arrest and are continuing their enquiries.

A 15-year-old boy, from Harlow, remains in custody for questioning on suspicion of assault.
Temporary Detective Inspector Christopher Morgan said:
“This was a serious assault and the victim will continue to receive hospital treatment.
“His family are being supported while our investigation continues today.
“It is thanks to the quick work of responding officers, taking in witness statements and enquiries near to the scene, that we were able to swiftly make a significant arrest.
“Our enquiries will continue into this incident and I would reassure the public at this stage we believe this to be an isolated matter with no wider or continuing threat to the community.”
