We are appealing for the public’s help following a serious assault in Chelmsford yesterday, which has left a man in a critical condition.
Officers were called to Seymour Street, close to the entrance of Central Park at around 6:40pm on Friday, 28 June following reports of a man being seriously assaulted.
Emergency services including the air ambulance service were in attendance and the victim was taken to hospital after sustaining multiple stab wounds.
He remains in hospital in a critical condition.
Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made at this stage.
Detective Inspector Guy Turnbull said “Those in the area would have noticed a police presence today whilst we continued enquiries as part of this investigation.
“We are working quickly to establish the circumstances around this assault and believe this to be an isolated assault.
“This assault took place in daylight hours in the city centre, close to the park which we believe was busy. We are hoping this means that someone may have seen something or have any CCTV or dashcam footage which could assist with the investigation.
“We are looking to speak with three men in connection with this investigation. One of the men is described as a black man, in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a grey tracksuit with a hood and a black jacket and white trainers with his hair in cornrows.
“The other man we are looking to speak with is described as a black man, in his late teens or early 20s wearing a black tracksuit with a hood and black trainers.
“The third man we would like to speak with is described as a mixed-race man, with afro style hair separated to the side with thick eyebrows and of a slim build. He was wearing a light grey tracksuit and carrying a black bag. We believe he was riding a grey or silver bike which had a white and black pattern in the middle of the handlebars.
“If you saw these men yesterday and have any information or footage you could share, please get in touch.”
