A man and a 39-year-old woman have been arrested in Great Dunmow on suspicion of money laundering by officers from our Rural Engagement Team.
The man, 42, was also arrested on suspicion of theft. They have both been released on police bail until 24 May 2024.
Working with National Construction and Agriculture Theft Team (NCATT) and the National Rural Crime Unit (NRCU), our rural engagement officers made the arrests on Wednesday 13 March.
During a subsequent search of a house in Great Dunmow, they seized approximately £100,000 in cash, computers, electronic devices, designer jewellery and around 100 vehicle identification number (VIN) plates.
Inspector Terry Jacobs, of our Rural Engagement Team, says:
“We work closely with our partners in National Rural Crime Unit to investigate cases involving the theft of agricultural and construction equipment and machinery. The impact of such crimes on rural businesses and communities cannot be underestimated.”
Our investigation continues.
