A 33-year-old man has been charged in connection with our ongoing attempted murder investigation in Basildon.
We were first called to a location outside Vange Riverview Centre in Basildon shortly before 6pm, on Saturday 4 May, following reports of a man who had been seriously assaulted.
The victim was taken to hospital with a head injury, where he remains in a critical condition.
Now, 33-year-old Codey Nolan of River View in Basildon is charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and offering to supply Class A drugs.
He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ court on Monday 13 May.
Our officers are still appealing for anyone who may have information about this incident to speak to us, no matter haw small it may seem.
Anyone with doorbell or dash cam footage which may assist us should also get in touch.
Detectives investigating a serious assault in Basildon have made a further arrest and continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
A 33-year-old man, from Basildon, is being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder after he was arrested on Thursday 9 May.
This follows a call to a location outside Vange Riverview Centre in Basildon shortly before 6pm, on Saturday 4 May, following reports of a man who had been seriously assaulted.
The victim was taken to hospital with a head injury, where he remains in a critical condition.
An investigation within Essex Police’s Serious Crime Directorate continues.
On Tuesday 8 May, officers arrested a 41-year-old man, from Basildon on suspicion of attempted murder.
He remains in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe said:
“Our investigation into this incident has continued throughout the week as we piece together the circumstances which led to the victim suffering a very serious injury.
“This work led to a significant arrest yesterday and our enquiries are progressing well.
“However I still need the community in Basildon to work with us, to think back to the evening of the assault, and consider whether they have any information which could assist us.
“We’ve maintained a visible presence in the Vange area as officers work to reassure residents and maintain those ties in the community.”
A scene remains in place in the area.
