We have made more than 500 arrests in the last week and secured more than 220 charges as we continue our commitment to tackle crime and keep you safe.
Teams from across the force are working relentlessly to tackle burglary, protect women and children, smash drugs gangs, and keep you safe on the roads.
Between Monday 11 November and Monday 18 November, the force has made 506 arrests for all offences and secured 224 charges.
In that time, officers also attended nearly 3,800 incidents, and more than 1,600 of those were emergencies.
Charges included two people for disclosing a private or sexual image with intent to cause distress, a teenager with possession of weapons offences after alert officers carried out a stop search, while a man was arrested in connection with a cold case murder investigation.
Two men were also charged after an officer was assaulted in Grays, while a woman was arrested and charged in connection with a burglary in Basildon.
And seven people were arrested in just one night as part of a cross border operation with Hertfordshire Police and the Met, predominantly in connection with drugs and weapons offences.
Deputy Chief Constable Andy Prophet said:
“Our officers are committed to tackling crimes in our community and keeping the public safe.
“Whether that be our specialist detectives who investigate violent, domestic and sexual offences, our brave response officers who run to danger when someone puts your safety at risk, our roads policing teams who target those who pose a hazard on our roads, or our Rural Engagement Team tackling crime in our rural communities.
“This is just a snapshot of the work that takes place. In the last year we attended nearly 77,000 emergencies, made more than 30,000 arrests, and secured more than 13,000 charges.
“In that time we’ve brought down crime with more than 9,300 fewer offences recorded including fewer domestic, sexual, and violent offences, fewer burglaries, and fewer vehicles stolen.
“We police with the consent of the public and I’m grateful for your support. 77 percent of people in Essex think we do a good or excellent job.
“We will repay that trust by continuing this work day in, day out.”
We're offering more ways for our communities to stay up to date with our work across Essex.
