Two people have been arrested thanks to the good work of officers responding to reports of attempts to steal a car in Rayleigh.
We were called shortly before 3.10am today (Monday 4 November) about a car theft in Daws Heath Road.
The car was stolen and then abandoned a short distance away.
Officers carried out a search of the area and later arrested two people in the High Street.
A 16 year-old boy and a 24 year-old man, both from Basildon, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of Class B or C drugs.
They are both currently in custody.
