A teenager has been charged after officers responded to reports of a serious assault in Chelmsford.
The incident took place in High Street, shortly before 11.55pm on Friday 25 October.
We were called to reports a man had been punched, before falling back and hitting his head on the pavement.
He suffered a serious head injury and remains in hospital in a stable condition.
It was further established a second man had been assaulted. He suffered injuries which are not life-threatening or life-changing.
Officers swiftly responded and made an arrest.
Charges of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm have been secured against 18-year-old Luca Tracey, of St Agnes Road, Billericay.
He is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Monday 28 October.
Detectives continue to appeal for anyone with information which could assist their enquiries to come forward.

Officers responded and, with the help of the city’s CCTV operators, swiftly located a suspect by 12.28am.
An 18-year-old man, from Billericay, remains in custody for questioning on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
Detective Sergeant Paul Olney said:
“We ensured a swift and robust response to this incident and our enquiries are continuing this morning.
“A man remains in a serious condition in hospital and our priority is establishing exactly what happened in the moments before, during and after this incident.
“His family are being supported.
“We believe there may have been a number of people passing or in the area at the time of this assault. We want to hear from you.”
