Two men have been charged with multiple offences following a serious assault in Basildon on Tuesday, 10 September.
Officers were called to Woolmer Green at around 3pm following reports of a fight and a man being seriously assaulted.
The victim suffered serious injuries which are not life-threatening and continues to receive hospital treatment.
Two men were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
George Ripley, 22, of Woolmer Green, Basildon has since been charged with attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

Both men appeared at Southend Magistrates Court on Thursday 12 September, where they were remanded in custody until a hearing at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday 10 October.
Two men have been arrested as part of our response to an incident in Basildon which was reported to us shortly after 3pm today, Tuesday 10 September.
We were alerted to reports of a fight taking place between three people in Woolmer Green, one of whom was described to us as armed.
Officers arrived at the scene alongside emergency services colleagues and found a man who had been seriously assaulted.
At this stage, we believe the man has sustained a stab wound. He has been taken to hospital in a serious condition.
Fast-paced enquiries allowed officers to quickly identify two people who we believe were involved.
Shortly before 5.30pm, two men were arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent.
There is a significant policing presence in the area at the moment and a portion of Woolmer Green remains closed. We anticipate that will continue into this evening as our investigation progresses.
Detective Inspector Marcus Dodd said:
“This incident will naturally cause concern with our community and although the investigation is in its early stages, I would reassure our residents that following some quick work by officers on the ground and in other areas of the force that we’ve made two arrests.
“These two men are now in custody and will be questioned.”
DI Dodd added:
“We have already taken accounts from a number of witnesses, which has helped the investigation to progress this afternoon and we thank everyone who has come forward.
“I would encourage anyone who has information on this incident and has not yet spoken to us to please get in contact.”
