Four men have been arrested on suspicion of various drugs offences following a stop and search by officers in Chelmsford city centre.
At about 3.10pm on Friday 6 September, officers in Wells Street approached a man they suspected was involved in the supply of drugs.
He tried to evade officers and entered an address in Duke Street, where the 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A and Class B drug. He has now been released on bail.
Another man in the flat, also 22, was located under a bed and arrested on suspicion of immigration offences. He has been transferred to the Immigration Service.
Inside the property officers also seized thousands of pounds of cash.
Two men were also arrested in Duke Street, close to the address:
Our investigation into these offences is ongoing.
Chief Inspector Ella Latham said:
“We won’t tolerate drug dealing in our communities and we will pursue every line of enquiry to disrupt this criminality.”
