Rochford: Warrant targets drug dealing activity

Main article content

News
Published: 14:40 04/09/2024

Large quantities of suspected Class A drugs and almost £1,000 in cash were seized as officers took action in response to intelligence received about alleged drug dealing in Rochford.

Officers with Rochford and Castle Point town centre team investigated reports around suspicious activity in the area of Somerset Avenue.

On Saturday 31 August, in partnership with our Operational Support Group, we executed a warrant at an address, seizing an estimated 215 grams of suspected cocaine, a quantity of cannabis, close to £1,000 and suspected drug paraphernalia.

Two women, one aged in her 20s and one in her 40s, from Rochford, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

They have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

'Our work continues'

Inspector David Kealy said:

“This was an important step in our ongoing efforts to disrupt drug dealing activity across our district.
“We are all too familiar with the negative impact of such activity on our communities, but we would reinforce the message that we are working continually and persistently to clamp down on such criminal elements.
“There is no room for drug dealers to operate in Rochford – it’s always a matter of ‘when’ and not ‘if’ they are stopped.
“We will continue to seize evidence and progress our investigations into drug supply networks in our communities.”

Tell us what you know

What you know could be the missing puzzle piece we’re looking for.

We know that information held by our communities can help us to keep people safe and catch criminals.

We also know that our communities need to trust that we will listen to them and take action when we need to.

Our Police Intelligence page explains what happens when you tell us something you've seen or heard. It explains what to expect and what we need to know when you give us information.

If you see or hear something that doesn’t seem right or causes you concern, we want you to tell us about it.

Worried about a friend?

Are you worried that a friend or someone you know may be being exploited through County Lines or organised criminal activity?

Maybe they are returning home late, staying out all night or even going missing for days or weeks at a time.

Are they suddenly being secretive about who they are talking to or where they are going?

Or perhaps you’ve noticed they have large amounts of money on them, or new clothing, jewellery or phones they wouldn’t be able to afford.

Through Fearless, young people can pass on information 100% anonymously to get help.

If you need help from police, call 101 or, if it's an emergency, always call 999.
