Wickford: Man charged over shop break-in

A man has been charged in connection with a break-in at a Co-op store in Wickford.

We were called to the store in St Peters Terrace, London Road at around 10am on Sunday (22 September).

Officers quickly attended and a vehicle believed to be involved failed to stop for them on the A12.

The vehicle was later stopped and a man was arrested.

Tasavur Raja, 34, of Sackville Gardens, Ilford, has now been charged with theft, common assault, aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and driving while disqualified.

He is due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday 24 September).

Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
