Alert officers have secured driving and drugs charges against a man after receiving concerns about how a car was being driven in Chelmsford.
We received reports relating to the driving of the car on the A414 Three Mile Hill shortly before 11.05pm on Thursday 3 April.
Roads Policing officers responded and located the vehicle which it was reported to have been in collision with a barrier.
The driver was detained and during a search of the vehicle officers discovered a quantity of Class A drugs.
A 30 year-old man was arrested and following an investigation by our Op Raptor team, we have secured charges.
Takidswa Mashingaidze, of Chelmer Road, Chelmsford appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 5 April charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug, drink driving, and possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation.
He admitted the charges and is due to be sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on week commencing 5 May.
PC Harry Townsend, from our Roads Policing Unit, said:
“This is a great example of a quick response to concerns from the public and then effective work between teams within Essex Police to secure a charge and conviction.
