Two men were arrested after officers acting on a call from the public uncovered an industrial-scale cannabis farm in Halstead.
Braintree Neighbourhood Policing Team attended an address in Colchester Road on Tuesday 15 April, after a call reporting suspicious activity in the area.
A cannabis grow totalling between 400 and 500 plants was uncovered inside the property.
Two men, one aged in his 20s and one aged in his 30s, were arrested on suspicion of production of a controlled drug.
They remain in custody.
Inspector Philip Jackson said:
“Within moments of our arrival at the scene, officers surrounded the property and arrested two suspects.
“Hundreds of cannabis plants were seized and will be destroyed.
“Growing cannabis is not a victimless crime.
“When produced on a large scale such as the operation uncovered today, it is often used to fund organised crime and brings with it a range of issues including exploitation and anti-social behaviour.
“This has only been possible with the support from people in Halstead who reported their concerns, and I urge anyone seeing suspicious activity to get in touch with us.”
What you know could be the missing puzzle piece we’re looking for.
We know that information held by our communities can help us to keep people safe and catch criminals.
We also know that our communities need to trust that we will listen to them and take action when we need to.
Our Police Intelligence page explains what happens when you tell us something you've seen or heard. It explains what to expect and what we need to know when you give us information.
If you see or hear something that doesn’t seem right or causes you concern, we want you to tell us about it.
