We are looking for members of the public to become a critical friend and help us better support our communities in Braintree and Uttlesford.
We are looking for people to join our Independent Advisory Group (IAG) for the two districts.
Inspector Phil Jackson, who leads the Braintree and Uttlesford Community Policing Team, said:
“Independent Advisory Groups play a key role in helping us better understand our communities and the issues they face.
“They act as a ‘critical friend’, challenging conventional thinking, giving an independent perspective on issues, and working as partners with us to inform improvements in how we deliver our service to the public.
“The role of IAG members is not to provide ‘specialist advice’ on policing issues. Rather, they are designed to provide advice on how policing services may be, or are being, perceived by, or impact on communities.
“The aim is to advise and work with the us to improve both the service provided to minority communities and the relationship between those communities and Essex Police.
“Members of the IAG are not asked to speak on behalf of a community but provide their own independent advice based on their lived experiences.
“The IAGs as an essential engagement structure for the Force and also a way for diverse community members to feedback and work with Essex Police acting as critical friends.
“We would like to invite anyone with an interest in their community and help shape policing and advise on police perception and issues within the community of Braintree and Uttlesford to please get in touch and be part of this invaluable community resource.”
There’s more information about IAGs, and details about how to apply, on our website.
