Four men have been charged with conspiring to commit burglary after officers swiftly responded to reports of suspicious activity outside two addresses.
We were called at around 7.30pm on Friday 14 February to reports a man had been spotted on the grounds of a property in Theydon Bois.
It was further reported he was disturbed by an alarm and fled before he could attempt to break in.
Minutes later, we received a report of three men using a tool to attempt to force entry to a property in nearby Broadstrood, Loughton.
The caller shouted at the men and they fled.
Within moments of these calls we had units closing in on the suspects.
A responding officer had his attention drawn to a nearby car parked in the vicinity of the offences, detaining a man who was behind the wheel.
Enlisting the help of our National Police Air Service colleagues, their helicopter then spotted three further suspects in a nearby wooded area.
Officers, with the help of our Dog Unit and specifically Police Dog Kaiser, soon found all three suspects hiding in waste bins.
Four men in total were arrested and taken into custody.
Charges of attempted burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary have since been secured against:
Ioan Rostas, 35, of no fixed address, faces a single charge of conspiracy to commit burglary.
All four men appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Monday 18 February, where they were remanded in custody until a hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on a date to be decided.
