A 21-year-old man has been arrested after a 22-year-old man died in a collision in Southend.
We were called to reports of the single-vehicle collision in Maplin Way North at about 6.45pm on Saturday 18 January.
At the scene we found one man had sustained serious injuries. Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, the 22-year-old man from Shoebury died at the scene.
A 21-year-old man from Shoebury was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving without a licence and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
He has been released under investigation.
Our investigation into this collision is ongoing.
Detective Inspector Mark Fraser, of our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "My sympathies are with the family of this man at this incredibly distressing time.
"My officers are carrying out a detailed investigation into this collision to establish the facts of the case.
