Two men have been arrested after a member of the public witnessed a stolen bike being loaded onto a van in Southend.
We received a call at 1.35pm on Thursday 16 January reporting a motorbike had been collected from Saxon Gardens in Shoeburyness.
It was identified as having previously been stolen.
Thanks to the information from the member of the public officers were able to follow the van which then failed to stop when directed.
The vehicle was tracked and later brought to a stop in Hornchurch and two men were arrested.
A 28 year-old from Dagenham and a 20 year-old from Hornchurch were arrested on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle, failing to stop when directed, dangerous driving, and taking a motor vehicle without owner’s consent.
The 28 year-old has also been arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance.
They have since been released on bail until 5 and 6 April respectively.
