Officers investigating reports of disorder in Burnham-on-Crouch on Monday 16 June have made four arrests and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with footage to get in touch.
We were called to reports of people fighting in Remembrance Avenue and Station Road at around 5.30pm.
Local officers attended, along with colleagues from the ambulance service.
Six people were taken to hospital with injuries which were not described as serious.
Two 16-year-old boys and a 50-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of affray and a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of GBH and violent disorder.
They are currently being questioned.
Detectives from CID are carrying out a number of enquiries today and Neighbourhood Policing Team officers are in the area today, so please come and speak to them if you have any concerns or information.
Det Sgt Luke Howard from the investigative team said:
“We know the actions of the group of people last night will have been very concerning to the local community.
“We want to reassure you that we are carrying out a thorough investigation into this incident, so we can establish what happened and the circumstances which led up to it.
“Luckily no-one was seriously injured. Damage was also caused to vehicles and property.
“There were reports of weapons being used and this type of violent behaviour will not be tolerated in Essex.
“We have set up a community portal and I would urge anyone with any information or footage to share it with us."
