Benfleet: Man charged after burglary where car stolen

Officers working to get victims justice have secured nine charges against a man as part of an investigation into burglary and vehicle theft.

We responded to a report of a burglary at an address in The Maylons, Benfleet on 23 February where a car and a watch was stolen.

The vehicle was tracked onto the A13 where it was stopped and a man was detained.

Dure Stevens, 18, of St Helens Place, Leyton has been charged with:

• Two counts of theft of a motor vehicle;
• Two counts of burglary;
• Attempted burglary;
• Dangerous driving;
• Driving without insurance;
• Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence;
• Driving while disqualified.

He appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on 24 February and is next due to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 24 March.
