A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a 19-year-old was assaulted in Chelmsford on Friday afternoon.
We were called to New Writtle Street with reports of an altercation at about 1.25pm on Friday 7 March.
Officers found a 19-year-old man at the scene with injuries minutes later. They are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
A rapid investigation to identify the suspect in this case led to the arrest of a 17-year-old from Chelmsford in Station Lane, Romford, yesterday evening (Saturday 8 March).
He remains in custody while our enquiries continue.
Superintendent Sharn Taylor said:
“This arrest was the result of a huge effort from officers to identify and locate this suspect.
“It is a perfect example of our approach to violence in Essex and that those involved will be held accountable.”
