Sunday 9 March - 11.20am

A 52-year-old man has been charged following an assault in Southend on Friday night.

We were called to reports of a woman injured in an assault in Old Southend Road at about 11pm on Friday 7 March.

Officers quickly at the scene within five minutes of the 999 call and a man from Southend was arrested in connection with the incident.

Now, Nathan Ineson of Southchurch Avenue has been charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon, criminal damage and affray.

He has been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Southend-on-Sea Magistrates’ Court on Monday 10 March.

The victim left the scene with suspected head injuries and a search was quickly launched to identify her.

Thankfully officers located the woman safe on Saturday 8 March, and we would like to thank the public for their help in this search.

Saturday 8 March - 10am

We want to locate the victim of a serious assault that took place overnight in Southend as soon as possible.

We were called to reports of a woman injured in an assault in Old Southend Road at about 11pm on Friday 7 March.

It is believed the woman left the scene with head injuries and we need to find her to make sure she’s safe.

Officers arrived at the scene within five minutes of the 999 call and a 52-year-old man from Southend was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon and common assault.

The woman is believed to be about 5ft 9in tall, with blonde hair in a bun. She was wearing a knee-length light coloured jacket and cropped light coloured trousers, and was carrying a cream or light coloured bag.

Anyone with information about this woman and her whereabouts should contact us on 999 quoting incident number 1429 of Friday 7 March.

Our investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Chief Inspector Paul Hogben said:

“Our upmost concern right now is to make sure the woman assaulted receives any medical attention she needs – we are asking for the public’s help to locate her as soon as possible.
“If you think you know this person or where she may have gone following the incident, please contact us straight away.”
