A 52-year-old man has been charged following an assault in Southend on Friday night.
We were called to reports of a woman injured in an assault in Old Southend Road at about 11pm on Friday 7 March.
Officers quickly at the scene within five minutes of the 999 call and a man from Southend was arrested in connection with the incident.
Now, Nathan Ineson of Southchurch Avenue has been charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon, criminal damage and affray.
He has been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Southend-on-Sea Magistrates’ Court on Monday 10 March.
The victim left the scene with suspected head injuries and a search was quickly launched to identify her.
Thankfully officers located the woman safe on Saturday 8 March, and we would like to thank the public for their help in this search.
