We are working at pace to locate suspects and stolen phones after multiple reports of robbery in Hatfield Peverel on Saturday evening.
It was reported that several suspects had robbed several victims in Pastures and the surrounding streets at about 8.50pm.
We arrived at the scene within minutes and arrested a 17-year-old on suspicion of robbery nearby at Hatfield Peverel train station, and have also recovered six phones which will be forensically analysed.
Officers from our Criminal Investigation Department and Serious Crime Directorate are pursuing several lines of enquiry to identify and locate further suspects, as well as identify every victim from last night’s incidents.
Detective Inspector Dan Jeffries said:
This is a fast-moving and large investigation - this means you’ll see more officers on the street in Hatfield Peverel today, and I urge anyone with information to speak to us.
We know there were dozens of people nearby in a busy residential area – there will be CCTV, doorbell footage and dashcam footage and we’ll be collecting all of this as quickly as we can.
There will be witnesses who were in the area last night who have now gone home – we want to hear from you too.
