Loughton: Convictions secured against registered sex offender

Main article content

Court and Convicted News
Published: 15:48 13/09/2025

A man has pleaded guilty to more than a dozen charges following work carried out by our teams monitoring registered sex offenders in Essex.

Trevor Pearce was previously convicted of three counts of making indecent photographs of children and one count of possessing prohibited images of children at Chelmsford Crown Court in September 2021.

He was made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for 10 years, and given a nine-month prison sentence suspended for two years.

He was placed on the sex offender’s register for 10 years and is subject to the Sex Offender Notification Requirements.

In addition to these conditions, regular visits to Pearce’s address were made by our Management Of Sexual Or Violent Offenders (MOSOVO) Team since his sentence, where he is required to allow officers to access his phone and any devices in his possession.

Over the course of these visits, two mobile devices were checked and child abuse images were found.

These devices were seized and analysed by our digital forensics experts, and more than 600 images and videos were found either on the phones or in cloud storage associated with Pearce.

Further prohibited phones and tablets were seized in a warrant in February 2025 at Pearce’s address.

This revealed further offending with the use of undeclared storage devices, deleting his browsing history, and failing to disclose his use of specific mobile applications – all of which were breaches of his SHPO.

The youngest victim in the materials is believed the be less than a year old. We also found upskirting images relating to offences committed in Loughton.

On 3 September at Chelmsford Crown Court, 63-year-old Pearce, formerly of Castell Road in Loughton, pleaded guilty to:

  • 12 counts of making an indecent image of children.
  • One count of possessing extreme pornographic images.
  • One count of recording an image under clothing to observe another without their consent.
  • One count of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at the same court on 3 October.

Constant monitoring of offenders

Speaking after the pleas, MOSOVO Officer Jai Rivers said:

“This case shows the importance of the constant monitoring of those subject to court order conditions.
“They are there the keep others safe, and Pearce made it clear by breaching these he was willing to exploit the victims in these images.
“Pearce’s excuses and denials in interview were wholly undermined by the evidence we compiled, and left him no option but to plead guilty.
“We now await his sentencing and work is already underway to ensure the tightest possible restrictions are in place to prevent further offending.”
