Detectives on Canvey Island have launched an investigation following reports of burglaries in the area.
We attended 12 house burglaries on the island in the last two months and are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.
These incidents are believed to have happened across a number of streets in the area, with the most recent happening in the early hours of Wednesday 17 June.
CCTV, door to door and other enquiries into these incidents are ongoing.
Castle Point and Rochford District Commander Chief Insp Ganesh Rasaratnam said: “I understand the concern these recent burglaries in Canvey Island will be causing residents, and I want to reassure the community that we are taking this very seriously. We have increased patrols in the affected areas, including targeted activity at key times, to provide a visible presence and deter further offences.
“A thorough investigation is ongoing, and our officers are working to identify those responsible. We are reviewing all available evidence, including CCTV and forensic enquiries, and liaising closely with local partners.
“I would urge residents to remain vigilant and take simple crime prevention steps, such as securing doors and windows, using timer switches, and reporting any suspicious behaviour to us straight away.
“Your information can make a real difference, and together we can help keep our communities safe.”
Detectives are also urging anyone who has been a victim of a burglary to ensure they report it. If you see a burglary in process, call 999 immediately.
If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to these incidents, then please get in contact with us.
