Criminal Behaviour Order issued to Manningtree man

A man who caused misery for customers and staff at a supermarket in Manningtree has been made subject of a court order to curb his behaviour.

Jason May, 45, of Nash Close, Lawford, was made subject of a Criminal Behaviour Order at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, January 30 after he breached a community behaviour order.

It prevents him from attending or loitering outside the Co-Op Store in Riverside Avenue, Manningtree.

Pc Nicola Southgate from the Clacton Community Policing Team secured the order with support from staff at the store and this is the first such order obtained in the district.

Inspector Darren Deex said: “We have taken this action to tackle May’s history of anti-social behaviour towards customers and staff at the supermarket.

“No one should have to put up with being verbally abused as they go about their daily lives and we will continue to work alongside our partners to stamp out anti-social behaviour in the community.”

The order will remain in force for two years. If May fails to comply with any of the conditions he will be committing a criminal offence and could be sent to prison or fined or both.
