Officers find missing teenager in the snow

Pc Murray Weir from Basildon Community Policing Team
Officers from Basildon Community Policing Team found a missing teenager in Wickford and returned him safely to his family.

On Thursday, March 1, our Force Control Room received a call from a mother reporting her teenage son missing. She was worried about him as he left the house distressed in his dressing gown with the temperature below zero.

Pc Sam Creighton and Sgt Rob Maile visited the mother to get a description of the teenager whilst Pc Murray Weir and Pc Mark Fulbrook started to search for him. The missing teenager was soon found in the high street and taken to hospital to receive the help he needed.

Pc Murray Weir from Basildon Community Policing Team said: “Not every incident is a crime, this is just one example of the work we do to help people in need.

“We’re just glad he was found safe with the temperatures being dangerously low.”
