Father thanks volunteer police officers who inspired his son to follow his dreams
The father of a 15-year-old boy has thanked two of our volunteer police officers who spent their afternoon talking to his son about policing and encouraged him to follow his dreams to work for the police.
Special Constables, S/Sgt Justyna Nowicka and SC Wayne Powell from Colchester met 15-year-old Radek earlier this week after hearing about his dreams to join the police when he finishes school.
Radek has always wanted to work for the police and the officers spent their afternoon talking about the ins and outs of their job and the different roles in Essex Police that help to make Essex safer.
His dad said: “I must admit that I personally have not seen him so happy for a long time. I cannot express enough gratitude for what that short meeting with your officers brought to my son's life. Protecting and serving Essex has a new meaning today. We all should look up to you as role models.”
Policing is more than crime fighting and Justyna and Wayne give their time regularly to help and engage with the public.
Justyna and Wayne have the same policing powers and uniforms as full-time police officers and volunteer their time to give back to their community. Could you?
