Man jailed after good spot from off-duty officer
A man has been jailed for three months for theft after he was spotted by an eagle-eyed officer who was off-duty in Colchester.
The man was wanted for theft and was spotted as a passenger in a passing car. The off-duty officer was walking his dog at the time and was able to jot down the car registration and report it to us.
An Automatic Number Plate Reader (ANPR) camera picked up the car which was later located at an address in Colchester.
Officers made their way to an address in Chevling Road, Colchester and arrested Lee Warren, 33 of Chevling Road, Colchester who appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on April 22.
He was sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment for theft and ordered to pay £170 in compensation.
