We have arrested 12 people over two days after carrying out six warrants in Canvey.
Officers from Op Falcon carried out four warrants in Grafton Road, Furtherwick Close, Waarem Avenue and
West Crescent yesterday, Friday, May 3 and two warrants in Seventh Avenue and Seaview Road today.
They were assisted by Op Raptor, our Operational Support Group, Community Policing, special constables, our dog unit, crime scene investigators and Southend’s Proactive Team and a large amount of drugs, cash and weapons were seized.
Karly Lester, 32, of Grafton Road, Canvey, was arrested yesterday and charged with possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs. She was due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today.
A 42-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs have been released under investigation.
Two women, aged 50 and 24, were given cannabis warnings.
Today two men, a boy, a girl and a woman were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and B.
A boy, aged 15, is being voluntarily interviewed for drugs offences and two other men were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
All eight people remain in custody for questioning.
Sergeant Victoria Jarvis, the operational lead, said: “We have carried out a number of searches to clampdown on the supply of drugs and the exploitation of young people in Canvey.
“The operation has been a success with 12 people arrested, six properties searched and a large amount of drugs, cash and weapons seized.
“Our work continues on Canvey and I hope this sends a clear message that those intent in dealing drugs in our communities that we will identify, investigate and arrest you with the aim of putting you before a court.”
