Jon joined Kent Police in 2002 and has built an extensive career as a detective, with experience across a range of investigative and intelligence roles.
He began his career working in local policing, focusing on crime and intelligence. He later joined the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate as a Detective Inspector, where he led and supported a number of complex and high-profile investigations across both police forces.
Jon is a qualified senior investigating officer, with experience leading investigations into major crime, serious and organised crime, kidnapping and extortion.
In 2020, Jon was appointed Head of Crime for Kent Police. He was responsible for improving how crime was investigated, maintaining high investigative standards and supporting the development of detectives across the force.
He later became Head of Professional Standards, where he led Kent Police’s work in response to the Angiolini Inquiry. The inquiry was established following the murder of Sarah Everard by serving police officer Wayne Couzens and examined how he was able to remain in policing, as well as wider issues around police culture and standards.
Jon also led work to improve professional standards and ethics, and strengthen public trust and confidence.
In October 2026, after completing the Executive Leadership Programme, Jon was appointed Assistant Chief Constable for the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate. This saw him return to the directorate after ten years.
He now leads teams that tackle serious and organised crime and carry out major investigations. He is also responsible for specialist policing teams that work across Kent and Essex.
When Jon isn’t working, he can usually be found trying to improve his parkrun time or standing at the side of a football pitch cheering on his two sons.
