Museum - Photographic Assistant
Based at the Essex Police Museum, Headquarters. Chelmsford.
Minimum of three hours a week
Museum Curator and Collections Team Leader
Museum Curator, Collections Team Leader, Photographic Assistants, Collections Volunteers.
Attend the Essex Police Museum at times and days of the week as agreed with the Collections Team Leader in advance. (Monday – Saturdays, daytime; flexible)
To assist with the documentation and storage of the museum’s photograph collection, including inputting information onto the Museum’s Collections Database. You will need to use the Museum Collection to research each photograph and identify individuals, places, context and dates.
General housekeeping and organisation within the Museum photographic stores
To complete collections tasks and research enquiry tasks as allocated by the Collections Team Leader
Note: Due to the nature of the Museum collection some items, images especially, are graphic. These are clearly marked and are concealed.
Further note: The role will include lone working in the Museum stores once trained.
Basic IT literacy – Email, Microsoft Office
Personal email (for use by the Collections Team Leader and Curator for communication)
