Volunteer role - Collections Team Leader
Museum - Collections Team Leader
Based at the Essex Police Museum, Headquarters. Chelmsford.
Hours
Minimum of six hours a week (can split across multiple days or do one day).
Reporting to:
Museum Curator
Working alongside:
Museum Curator, Collections Volunteers, Photographic Assistants, Collections Volunteers.
Responsibilities
- Attend the Essex Police Museum at times and days of the week as agreed with the Curator in advance. (Monday – Saturdays, daytime; flexible)
- To communicate collections news updates to their volunteer team members
- To help the Curator identify any collections work and supplies that are required
- To demonstrate to other volunteers how to carry out collections work
- To assign tasks to their volunteer team members to ensure steady progress with collections management and log volunteer hours
- To respond to research and record of service enquiries, including issuing invoices
- Assist with training their volunteer team
Note: Due to the nature of the Museum collection some items, images especially, are graphic. These are clearly marked and are concealed.
Further note: The role will include lone working in the Museum stores once trained.
Skills
- Personal email (for use by the Curator for communication)
- Basic IT literacy – Email, Microsoft Office

Transport
No driving licence or personal transport required. Public transport to HQ is available
