8. Visit the Essex Police Museum

The Essex Police Museum is closed to visitors until further notice following Government advice.

Opening hours

The museum is open to the public every Saturday between 10am and 4pm and Wednesdays 10am to 4pm in school holidays. If you are doing a risk assessment, paying for a visit or visiting for any other reason outside of public opening hours you must make an appointment in advance so we can ensure a member of staff will be available.

Admission and parking is free, although a small charge applies for special events – see our events page for more details. Parking is available on Saturdays only, although we can arrange parking for group visits and schools during the week. Alternatively the nearest car parks are Riverside or Chelmer Village.
Groups of 10 or more can book visits in advance, Monday-Friday, during the daytime or evening. All of our group visits are run by volunteers, and we require at least 6 weeks notice. There is a small fee per person. To book a visit please email museum@essex.pnn.police.uk.

We are situated at Essex Police Headquarters in Springfield, Chelmsford.
