The district of Basildon is in the South of Essex. It is approximately 42 square miles (110 square kilometres) and has a population of around 187,600 people (2021).
Basildon is east of Central London, and borders the Essex districts of Chelmsford, Rochford, Castle Point, Thurrock, and Brentwood.
Both the A127 and the A13 run through the district.
Its largest town is also called Basildon and has around 57% of the district’s population.
The District Commander role focuses on reducing and detecting crime in the district. They are also responsible for community policing.
Basildon Dristrict Commnader, Chief Inspector Dan McHugh, has spent his entire policing career in Basildon and says he cares deeply about the district.
