The Maldon District is home to traditional marshland villages and historic maritime towns. It's diverse heritage extends thousands of years and many periods of English history.
The district covers 138 square miles (358 square kilometres). It has a population estimated around 66,200 people (2021).
The district is mainly rural areas surrounding the Blackwater estuary. It extends south to the estuary of the River Crouch.
Policing in Maldon is affiliated with the Chelmsford district. Both districts are overseen by District Commander Chief Inspector Paul Ballard.
The District Commander role focuses on reducing and detecting crime in the district. They are also responsible for community policing.
