The Tendring district is in the northeast of Essex. It borders the district of Colchester and 37 miles (60 kilometres) of coastline.
The district covers around 130 square miles (337.6 square kilometres) and has a population of around 148,100 people (2021).
The district's largest town is Clacton-on-Sea and is a popular coastal attraction. Other towns include, Frinton-on-Sea, Walton-on-the-Naze, Brightlingsea, Harwich and Manningtree. Large villages include St. Osyth and Great Bentley.
The District Commander role focuses on reducing and detecting crime in the district. They are also responsible for community policing.
